Chairman's Circle Member Cleanscapes Celebrates the Arrival of Ultra Green Fleet Vehicle to Serve Issaquah

On Wednesday, June 13th at 11:00 a.m. CleanScapes and the City of Issaquah are celebrating the arrival of a new environmentally-friendly truck. This truck Hydraulic Launch Assist (HLA)/Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) truck, one of several recently added to CleanScapes fleet, are the first of their kind in use in the Pacific Northwest.

HLA vehicles store hydraulic energy captured when breaking and use it for future acceleration. This technology translates into as much as 30% fuel savings and cleaner air. The integration of HLA technology into a truck fueled by CNG results in dramatically reduced emissions of green house gases and particulates, which can find their way into rivers, creeks, lakes and Puget Sound.

CleanScapes, a Seattle-based solid waste and recycling collection company, is the only company to pioneer their use in the region, piloting them in the City of Des Moines and Shoreline. “This truck represents the state of the art in clean and sustainable heavy truck technology, and we are proud to introduce these vehicles in the City of Issaquah,” said Dan Bridges, CleanScapes Manager of Operations.

CleanScapes received a grant for the HLA truck from the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency’s Clean Cities Program, and received a four star Evergreen Fleets rating (www.evergreenfleets.org).
