Urban Growth Designation
A good discussion about the benefits of becoming designated by PSRC as an urban growth area. Seems that achieving the designation now makes sense to help us compete for inbound investments. The state's Growth Management Act requires that cities assume a designated level of population growth. The Central Issaquah Plan will provide the blueprint for meeting these growth goals. An urban growth area designation would improve Issaquah's competitiveness for transportation infrastructure, new businesses, high paying jobs and more. The City's Planning Policy Commission approved the Central Issaquah Plan without recommending pursuit of the urban growth designation, and the council will need to decide whether to include it back into the plan.
