The Greater Issaquah Chamber would like to thank Cascade Water Alliance for spawnsoring our virtual Salmon Days Chalk Coloring Competition this year. Although we could not gather in person for this year’s Salmon Days, we have already heard back from many grateful parents for providing such a wonderful family-friendly activity.
And because we could keep our social distance, we had several places that kids were allowed to chalk. Thanks to Issaquah Commons, Grand Ridge Plaza, and the Downtown Issaquah Association in Issaquah, and Pine Lake Village in Sammamish we had several weekends when children young and old joined in the fun of chalking salmon-related images on sidewalks, parking lots, and streets (closed to vehicle traffic).
9 - 11 Years Old, 1st Place
15+ Years Old, 2nd Place
12 - 14 Years Old, 1st Place
Hundreds of people participated with many of them submitting their designs into the Chalk Art Competition. Entire families played and competed. And in a few cases, we had winners in multiple age categories from the same households.
The judges admitted it was a tough job narrowing done the entries, but they were able to chose 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners from each age group: 5 and Under, 6 – 8 Years Old, 9 – 11 Years Old, 12 – 14 Years Old, and 15 and Over. In total 15 prizes gift cards to local restaurants and/or Salmonopoly Board Games are being given out. Gift prizes ranged from $20 - $50 per prize.
The Greater Issaquah Chamber is very proud to have hosted the Chalk Art Competition along with a Recipe Competition, Coloring Contest, and Rock Painting Competition. It was rewarding to see the smiling faces of winners and their parents when they came up pick up their prizes. Equally important to us is the ability we had to purchase gift cards from our local businesses to give away as prizes.
“We consider this a win/win for the community”, said Chamber CEO, Kathy McCorry. “Residents had a fun game to play, we were able to keep Salmon Days top of mind, and we supported local businesses by purchasing gift cards for the winners.”
Salmon Days and all of the festival visitors were truly missed this year. However SalmonVision 2020, a Virtual Salmon Days, was well attended and enjoyed by all! Thank you once again to our spawnsor, Cascade Water Alliance.
Thank you for your interest in the Salmon Days Chalk Art Competition! The contest has ended as of 10/6/2020!
